This is a project for two underground pedestrian corridors at the Charlotte Airport, Charlotte North Carolina. It will be installed in late 2023.
The goal of Restless Sea, Restless Sky is to create a sense of space, light and air that defy the normal experience of underground walkways while referencing in a metaphoric way the essential quality of transition: an absence of boundaries, shifting perceptions, uplifting energy full of possibility. The illusion of space and depth enlivens the experience of moving past the artwork and the viewer’s own reflection amidst the waves and clouds draws us into the experience even if only for a fleeting moment as we move past.
